If you’ve been eyeing the Makita XPS01Z track saw, you’ve probably noticed the saw doesn’t come with a guide rail. Check out our in-depth review of the Makita XPS01Z for more on the saw itself. The official Makita rail works beautifully — but it’s pricey. So, I went looking for a good off-brand option that actually fits and performs just as well.

After testing a few, this 55-inch aluminum rail hit the sweet spot.

Fits Like a Glove (Seriously)

No adapters, no fiddling. The saw slides perfectly onto this off-brand track with zero wobble or slop.
It’s built to the same pattern as Makita and Festool tracks, so everything lines up: the splinter guard, grip strips, and connector slots.

Once it’s laid out on plywood, it stays put — the rubber grip underneath holds it in place without needing clamps for most cuts.
When I do clamp it (for longer 8-foot rips), it’s rock-solid.

Build Quality & Accuracy

For under $100, I expected flex or misalignment. But nope — this thing is dead straight.
The aluminum is rigid, edges are cleanly machined, and it pairs beautifully with Makita’s plunge saw.

If you’re cutting large panels or furniture-grade plywood, it’ll give you the same splinter-free accuracy as the OEM track.

The only tradeoff? The edge strip wears a bit faster than Makita’s.
But even then, replacement strips are cheap, and I haven’t noticed any drop in cut quality after months of use.

The Smart Setup Combo

Here’s how I run it in my shop:

• One of these 55-inch rails for most cuts
• A shorter 39-inch section for trim and tight projects
• Two track connectors to join them when I need full 8-foot length

It’s a setup that gives me the same flexibility as the expensive kits, a great choice. My track saw loves them.
